Compare two PDFs visually guide
Compare two versions of a PDF using rendered page pixels and inspect a page-level report. The workflow can reveal changed page artwork, moved text or added marks without sending the documents to an outside comparison service. Review each reported difference because a visual change is not automatically a meaningful editorial or legal change. Book centers, freelancers and developers can use this free local workspace without a login or paid conversion API. Keep the original and inspect the downloaded result.
Before you start
Keep an unchanged copy of the original PDF. Use a clear file name and check that the selected files belong to this job. Use an unencrypted PDF and open it before processing to confirm that the pages display correctly.
Work on a device with enough free memory for the job. A small sample is a useful first check, especially on a phone or when the source contains many pages or high-resolution photographs. Keep other large processing tabs closed while generating the result.
Steps and settings
- Choose the earlier PDF first and later PDF second.
- Set rendering resolution and the pixel difference threshold.
- Create the reports and inspect the changed pages.
Use the settings shown in the workspace for this task. Recheck the file order and measurements before starting. If you change an input or setting after a result is generated, create a fresh output so the downloaded file matches the choices currently displayed.
Processing details
Corresponding pages are rendered at bounded resolution and compared pixel by pixel. The report summarizes changed area and page-count differences.
Result checks
- Open the actual downloaded result and compare it with the source or entered details.
- Check the first and final pages, ordering, borders and any fine text, numbers or stamps.
- Print a single test sheet before a large job. Choose actual size or 100% when physical measurements matter.
- Keep the original input until the customer or intended reader has accepted the result.
Practical limits
This is a visual comparison, not semantic document analysis or legal verification. Rendering differences, fonts and image compression can produce differences that are not content edits.
A PDF edit can invalidate an existing digital signature. Image-based PDF output can remove selectable text, interactive fields and links. Use the original when its editable or interactive features must be preserved.
Offline preparation and app availability
Prepare the website resources from Help while the connection is available and wait for the ready status. Tools that use OCR or a Nastaliq font require an additional optional resource download. HEIC decoding is included in the main website resource pack. Test the required workflow after disabling the connection; browser storage can be cleared or evicted later.
Adding the site to a phone’s Home Screen creates convenient access and does not itself prepare every resource. The existing Microsoft Store app and Edge extension contain the original four PDF tools. This expanded website tool needs a separate installed-package release before it appears in those apps.

Invisible differences
Hidden metadata, attachments and content outside the rendered view are not fully described by a pixel comparison. Use document inspection when those details matter.
Price and accounts
This website workflow is free without a login, subscription or paid conversion tier. Your browser supplies the processing memory and CPU.
Local file handling
Selected documents and generated results are processed on your device. QBMFX does not upload them to a conversion server or save them in a customer database. Hosting, advertising and opening external links are separate network activity.
Offline preparation
Prepare the supported website resources while connected, wait for the ready status and test the workflow before disconnecting. OCR, advanced PDF processing or fonts can need an additional local resource pack. Browser cleanup can remove saved resources.
Installed app availability
The Microsoft Store app and Edge package currently contain the original four tools. Website additions require a separate installed-package release and do not update those packages automatically.
