Password protect PDF
Protect a PDF with an opening password before delivering it through a separate channel. Enter a strong password, create an encrypted copy and test that the saved result refuses access without it. Keep a safe original and send the password independently from the document when confidentiality matters to your workflow. Book centers, freelancers and developers can use this free local workspace without a login or paid conversion API. Keep the original and inspect the downloaded result.
Choose your files and review the settings.
Keep originals and inspect the result before printing. File changes clear previous downloads. Heavy image and OCR work can take longer on a phone.
Using Password protect PDF
- Choose a PDF and enter an opening password.
- Create the encrypted copy.
- Reopen the output and test the required password.
Behind the result
The local PDF engine encrypts the output document using its supported encryption settings. Reading the saved file requires authentication with an accepted password.
Free tools for everyday work
Book centers, photocopy shops, freelancers and developers can use this workspace without a paid plan or account. Files are processed locally. Prepare website resources from offline setup before disconnecting; Urdu/OCR also needs the separate pack above.
The Windows app currently includes the original four tools. The expanded tools are available on the website; app and extension updates will be separate releases.
Answers and practical details
Password handling
Passwords are used locally for this run and are not saved as a preset. Choose a separate secure way to retain or deliver them.
Price and accounts
This website workflow is free without a login, subscription or paid conversion tier. Your browser supplies the processing memory and CPU.
Local file handling
Selected documents and generated results are processed on your device. QBMFX does not upload them to a conversion server or save them in a customer database. Hosting, advertising and opening external links are separate network activity.
Offline preparation
Prepare the supported website resources while connected, wait for the ready status and test the workflow before disconnecting. OCR, advanced PDF processing or fonts can need an additional local resource pack. Browser cleanup can remove saved resources.
Installed app availability
The Microsoft Store app and Edge package currently contain the original four tools. Website additions require a separate installed-package release and do not update those packages automatically.
